Boku no Hero Academia, Chapter 47: To Wriggle
Awesome chapter, still continuing on the Stain battle. Stain continues to fucking impress, and the excellent poses that the artwork puts him in makes him look equally terrifying and awesome in the same breath. And while Stain is awesome and we did get an explanation of his powers (which I'll talk about later), I think the one that steals the show this chapter is Todoroki and the character development he's gained since we last saw him.
Midoriya also proves to be far smarter than most of his shonen protagonist brethren, since he apparently mass-messaged his coordinates to all his contacts, so it's probably not just Todoroki alone who figured out Midoriya's S.O.S... Midoriya just kind of hits jackpot when Todoroki arrives instead of Belly Button Guy. Todoroki uses both fire and ice effectively, and manages to rescue Midoriya, Iida and Native American Man in one shot.
Stain is unpertubed, though, just throwing his many many blades all around and slicing through Todoroki's ice and generally being too strong and fast even for Todoroki to react to. Todoroki tells Iida to fuck off -- basically to stop whining if he truly wants to inherit the name of Ingenium. Midoriya finds that he can move once more and helps to get Stain off Todoroki for a bit. Midoriya quickly surmises a couple of theories to how Stain's powers work -- it can't be time since both Iida and Native American Man are still paralyzed, so Midoriya goes through some genre savvy observations like 'oh maybe his powers wean when he's controlling more targets' and 'oh maybe it depends on how much blood he eats' before concluding that it's related to blood type.
Stain's quirk is apparently called Blood Clot, and he can rob a person's freedom for a maximum of eight minutes -- and the duration depends on the blood type, becoming progressively shorter from B, AB, A and O. Midoriya's an O, Iida's an A and Native American Man is B.
As Midoriya and Todoroki goes off to battle Stain together, we get a short little narration from Todoroki, who sees his past resentment-driven self in Iida after Ingenium's attack, and we get a short flashback to what his mother told him -- that he simply needs to be happy and push himself forward, which was why he chose to study under his father, who, despite Todoroki's personal misgivings, is still the Number Two hero, and we see that he has matured so much simply by accepting that Ice-And-Fire is his power and not Endeavour's... and tells Iida to stand up and fight alongside them (Stain is completely overpowering both Todoroki and Midoriya) if he truly wants to inherit the name Ingenium.
Overall pretty good, and I'm excited to see how this ends. Presumably Endeavour and Grand Tourino will show up soon, though, since I don't think even with Iida's help they can do much to Stain.
