Movie Reviews

Due to the mainly superhero-centric content of this blog, I've made a list of every single superhero movie out there, though there's no real guarantee I'll do all of them. I'll do most of the new ones, though. Also, I've since expanded my repertoire and have done several reviews of non-superhero movies, which can be found on the top of this page, arranged chronologically by the year it's released instead of when I wrote the reviews.

I don't really have any proper schedule for reviewing movies, especially for older ones -- they just tend to happen when I sort of feel the urge to watch an old movie.

Marvel Cinematic Universe:

My reviews for the earth-shatteringly popular cinematic adaptation for the adaptations of Marvel's superhero comics. Phase 1 to 2 are all recently rewritten. Some of the 2015-2016 era movie reviews might not be quite up to the standards to my other reviews and are more reactions than anything.

MCU Phase One: The Avengers

MCU Phase Two: Age of Ulttron

MCU Phase Three: Infinity Saga

MCU Phase Four: Multiverse Saga
(Phase Four also includes MCU-related TV projects on Disney+. I review WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk in the TV shows section)
MCU Phase Five: 'Kang' Saga
(Phase Five also includes MCU-related TV projects on Disney+, namely Secret Invasion, Loki S2, What If S2, Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Eyes of Wakanda, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart)
For Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, the Defenders, Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, Inhumans, What If? and other future MCU-related TV projects, see here.

X-Men Cinematic Universe:

Official posterFox has had an ironclad grip on the X-Men movie franchise since the 2000's, and has been producing X-Men movies independently from Sony or Marvel Studios ever since. Despite their weird stance on continuity, including the 'soft reboot' in 2011 and the time travel branching timelines caused by 2014's Days of Future Past, the X-Men movies have raked relatively great reception over the years, in no small part due to the iconic casting of Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine.

With Marvel Studios's acquisition of Fox, some aspects of this continuity has been folded into the MCU's Multiverse.

Non-MCU Marvel Movies:
Other movies based on Marvel properties. Of particular note are the various versions of Spider-Man and Fantastic Four movies. Most of these have essentially concluded, and some versions of these characters have had crossovers with the MCU.

DC Extended Universe:

An attempted soft reboot for Superman in 2006 ended in relatively lukewarm reception, and 2011's Green Lantern was meant to be the head of a new DC shared universe until heavy critical and audience backlash ended up causing WB to scrap their plans, instead starting their 'DC Extended Universe', as it's called, with 2013's Man of Steel, and for a while it's a one-movie franchise until 2016 released Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, which were met with heavily polarizing reception. The DCEU finally had a movie that pleased most critics with 2017's Wonder Woman, and leading to a different take on most of the movies starting with that year's projects.

Other Miscellaneous Live-Action Movies:

Probably won't have much more entries added into this unless I have something to say about a recent movie. Plus older reviews for the MCU movies.  Click here for anime movies.
