Nanatsu no Taizai 122 Review: Starring the Knights Three and Hendricksen

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 122: The Demon Onslaught

I genuinely thought I already did Nanatsu no Taizai chapters 122-123, but apparently I haven't. So I have a bit of a backlog on this series to catch up to.

In this chapter (and the next two) we go away from the complete destruction Galan has unleashed upon the Seven Sins to focus on other characters: Hendricksen, Gilthunder, Hauser and Griamor. But before we shift focus, this chapter shows the rest of the Ten Commandments first. Zeldoris talks about how Britannia seems to have dried up in terms of magical power and how it'll take time for their magical powers to recover and stuff. Then a bunch of random farmer dudes show up telling them to fuck off, and Evil!Dreyfus or Fraudrin, talks about how magical power is flowing through all these new living beings.

So take-it-up-the-ass girl just goes up to one of the farmers, pokes him in the belly and eats his soul. Cavalier-looking-dude gives this lengthy explanation on how exterminating the human race will help them regain their magical energy, even if it's only a little bit every time. Guess his thing is that he talks a shit-ton? Shadow-Limbs girl apparently has actual hands and her little shadow blanket starts swirling around into some kind of portal, and apparently wants to release her 'honeybees'.

We then shift to Gilthunder, Hauser and Griamor. Hauser poke fun at Griamor about Lady Veronica, how she's such a tomboy and doesn't have to 'bind down those breasts so much'. Gilthunder, meanwhile, regrets bringing those two along with him. Oh, Gilthunder, you long-suffering fellow. They come across some villagers that are just soulless husks, and a nearby village is under attack by a Red Demon that looks identical to the one that destroyed the Great Fairy Tree. And it can apparently just suck souls by pointing at humans.

Gilthunder and Hauser each launch their own attacks on the Red Demon, with Hauser's tornado ripping entire limbs apart. Hauser, being out for the whole climax thing, note the similarity between the Red Demon's power and the new-generation knights -- didn't anyone tell you anything? The Red Demon tries to do a mouth beam, but Griamor creates a 'Perfect Shell' that causes the thing to blow the Demon's own face up, and the Gilthunder goes all Thor and vaporizes the fat fucker. The souls are returned to the villagers, but of course it's not over -- the Gray (or Ashen) Demon that Hendricksen has been draining blood from shows up. So I guess these are just the generic troopers of the demon clan? Unless they just happen to come across the exact same demon, resurrected...

And, of course, in the end, Hendricksen shows up all badass and shit ready to deliver some hurt to the Ashen Demon.
