Toriko 321 Review: Poor Zonge

Toriko, Chapter 321: The Reunion Party

Just a bit of a breather chapter, really. But the rest of the secondary characters all arrive on this 'Crabbus', and after a bit of confusion they meet up with Toriko and company, who are having a party. Meanwhile Zonge has arrived and is scaring off monkeys with his face... which is funny in and of itself, but it's just building up to an even funnier joke down the line.

The other characters are surprised by Komatsu's breasts, especially Chiyo, who IIRC was hunting for Pair when she joined the Bishokukai... well, she'll probably get to meet her son, but not in the way she imagined it would be. Komatsu has apprently gotten a bunch of other super-awesome ingredients and whatnot. Meanwhile, Coco has placed the Sandoriko as his full course's Hors d'oeuvre but no one gives a shit. Toriko gets two splash pages whenever he fills one of his, but Coco? he's just talking all dramatic in the background but people ignore him. Poor Coco. But seriously, a good chunk of your full course are like level 30-35 bullshit, might want to work on making something with more oomph.

Toriko brings some of the other characters up to speed, and Chin Chinchin Chinchinchin talks about 'Food Spirits' who are souls with regrets dwell within delicious ingredients and sometimes whisper to chefs the correct way to cook the ingredients. Well, I guess that's as good an explanation as anything. Sani brings Guemon and Malee's corpses... except they aren't corpses. They're just put in a super-hibernation state by Malee's super knocking skills. We get a flashback to Guemon's ghost telling them about all this. Long story short, Pukin (who I forgot existed), the disciple of Mohyan Shaishai, undoes the knocking done on Guemon and Malee partly with Pair's help. So much about them dying.

Kaka the ghost hints about something that Mohyan Shaishai is trying to revive, but doesn't elaborate because it's a manga.

Chiyo then talks about how Pair could only revive Guemon and Malee because their bodies were alive in the first place. But even though Teppei crushed Komatsu's heart, it was still around in the ghost-world or whatever... so apparently at the same time that he crushed Komatsu's heart, Teppei apparently revived it as well. They also note how Komatsu has an appetite demon in his body, though they're not sure if he got it by 'ingestion' or 'direct injection'. And, of course, it kind of looks like Joa. Pukin has the theory that Teppei might've did some kind of super-complex gambit of destroying Komatsu's heart to revive it so that it can handle the appetite demon... destroying a weak organ to rebuild it into something stronger. Of course, while it's likely to be true, Toriko and the others point out how super convoluted and dangeorus it was, even with faith and shit.

Also, maybe Teppei is half-dead too.

Meanwhile Zonge is a woman and the monkeys are worshipping him and he's just doing his normal deal of 'oh I'm awesome mwahahaha'. And everyone is reacting in abject shock at Zonge's face... and Bambina arrives with the most hilarious 'AAAAAAAAH' face. And apparently Bambina's lover, the original bearer of the Bambina name, whose face we never saw throughout all her appearances... has a face identical with Zonge, beard and all. Well holy shit. And Zonge just got the right equipment to do love with Bambina, too! That was hilarious, at least.

Overall still not a ton really happened other than a bunch of recapping, but everyone else showed up. And the Zonge stuff is hilarious, that is.
