Nanatsu no Taizai 207 Review: Rampaging Demons

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 207: Indura, the Beasts of Destruction

Well, what about that Fairy Tail chapter, huh? Honestly, who expected Gray to die in that absolutely tension-less and repetitive chapter where they literally repeat the same points of argument two or three times? Man, it's a good thing I don't have to actually talk a lot about it anymore.

Anyway, Taizai. We get to see what the Indura forms are doing, which is pretty cool. Apparently it boosts Derriere alone so much that she can bat around Rudociel, whacking him (her?) so hard that he's reduced to calling for help. Some helpful introdump from Galan tells us that the 'Indura' are fearsome legendary beasts within the demon world that are detested even by demons, and it's the true nature of a 'Superior Demon' (so, not Galan? Or does he just not care enough to transform?) when they form a ritual and a contract with the 'Darkness' after sacrificing six of their seven hearts. Is the Darkness the Demon King, or is there an even greater evil? Galan notes that your power needs to be at least 50,000 to withstand the transformation. Which I'm pretty sure Estarossa and Zeldoris, the two remaining Commandments in the present day, do. So yeah, Indura Form already and fight Escanor!

Rudociel's blasts are tanked by an unflinching Derriere, and the jackass archangel just panics, summoning Tamriel and Sariel to help... but Monspiet and his many tentacle-hands hold the two of them down, before causing them to explode. A lot. There are two full pages showing a forest before Derriere attacks and the big explosion caused by Derriere's attack which I thought was definitely unnecessary -- we know how devastating these guys are by the virtue of them beating up these already-established-to-be-badass angels, wasting two pages to show terrain damage isn't really very necessary at all.

Then Meliodas, plus Diane-in-Dolor and King-in-Gloxinia pull Elizabeth out of the goddess shield she's in. (What's the point, by the way, of Diane and King going into the bodies of their past selves? Why can't they just see all of this as a huge flashback?) This scene takes a bit longer than it should, but it leads to Elizabeth coming in between Rudociel and Derriere, noting that she's going to finish this. She's totally the fourth archangel, right?

So yeah, nothing too groundbreaking or new, and as cool as it is to see these characters are fighting, it all amounts to just shooting explosives at each other and tanking them. I'm honestly a bit unconvinced that this needed an entire chapter, and the fact that it's just explosions launched at each other makes this a lot less interesting than the previous chapter. So.
