Fairy Tail, Chapter 459: Weakness
Okay, this chapter starts off relatively disappointing, a continuation of the previous chapter's feelings. We spend some time just having Erza fall down, Natsu catching her, some "heartwarming" fist bump moment, some stating the obvious... and the utterly idiotic and anticlimatic and non-funny way that Lucy and Cana takes out Brandish. Let's not talk about that.
Then we've got Gray, Juvia and the Strauss siblings fighting these weird-looking robot people with metallic lower jaws. They apparently can use magic that's the weakness of the ones they are fighting -- steam against Juvia, fire against Gray, et cetera. We've an admittedly funny scene of one of the robots turning into Elfman to just beat up Mirajane. No idea why, say, Gray can't just ice blast the Elfman-lookalike, but maybe these dudes can adapt to whatever magic gets shot at them? Walricht notes that these robotmen are his creations, part of his magic, "Weakness".
Walricht then jumps straight to kill the Jutsushiki user, and faces off against Evergreen and Bickslow. So glad that the Raijinshuu is getting some screentime, is all I'm saying. We get some cool scenes seeing Evergreen and Bickslow show off their primary magic and their eye magics, but the former gets cancelled out by the robots, and Walricht transforms and reveals himself to be a robot too, so is immune to eye magic. Because.
So far it's cool, Walricht is taking on like half the main cast alone. I bet Gray or Laxus or someone will one shot him, though, and sure enough, lightning comes down...
And it's motherfucking Ichiya.
With Thunder Perfume.
It's just so ridiculous and funny and I actually laughed a little. All is forgiven today. Erza "Mary Sue" Scarlett gets taken out, and either Ichiya or the Raijinshuu or Laxus will be fighting Walricht, which I'm totally fine with. Hopefully Ichiya. Ichiya is awesome. I like him.
In all seriousness, though... I did like the little ontroduction and power display done by Walricht, definitely like the spotlight on the Raijinshu and the sudden Ichiya entry. But Brandish was just dumb.
