Toriko 361 Review: Stupid Revelations

Toriko, Chapter 361: The Lurking Demon

A good chunk of this is just Toriko tasting Another and just developing Midora's gross tongue and start seeing basically everything (including Starjun) as food. And the other three big ingredients are just... skipped. Like, literally skipped. They went from talking about what a holy-shit thing Another is, and we don't even get a cursory series of three panels showing the other three dishes and their effects. What the fuck. That was dumb.

We also get something totally out of nowhere that Starjun is apparently Toriko's twin? And eating Another reminded him of that, even though fetuses should not have memories? When in this manga has it ever been hinted that Toriko and Starjun might possibly be brothers at all? It's just a stupid development, and in the breakneck pace that this manga has been going dropping something insanely out of the blue like this is just dumb in my opinion. And honestly, so what if Starjun is Toriko's brother? I honestly don't care.

We get Jiji talking about how awesome the original demons within Sunny, Coco, Zebra and Toriko's red oni are, how they are basically beings of planetary destruction. Sunny's the most interesting, since it can vomit out what it consumed as something it controls... Tommyrod zombie in the future? Maybe? If the mangaka remembers Tommyrod exists? (To note, Tommyrod's demon briefly shows up in the flashback as one of Coco's demon's thralls).

And then, another random revelation is that Komatsu has brought along the mysterious golden can and is about to open it with a golden can opener. In what is most likely the least epic follow-up to something that's been hinted and built up over quite a number of chapters. There literally was no excitement or build-up to this, and I would rather have them talk a bit more about what News, Earth and Atom are. At all. When I have the time, I'll probably make a proper rant about how stupid the pacing has been for the past ten or so chapters. But I don't. So this short puffy thing is what you get for now.

Yeah.... not Toriko's best chapters.
