Nanatsu no Taizai 168 Review: Tin Man

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 168: Ten Commandments Extermination Plan

We take a break from the tournament to see Guila, a masked knight that's clearly a disguised Veronica (especially if you've been paying attention to the cover pages) and Gustaf, who I totally forgot was Jericho's brother until someone reminded me. They are sent to meet up with the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, who are totally not dead. Because, um, as awesome as that scene with Fraudrin deciding to say 'fuck this' to villain stupidity, this is at its heart a mostly optimistic Shonen manga. No one is dead, even Deldrey, though she needs some healing from... a healer? A druid? Apparently Dogget used his 'Boost' powers to save the other Pleiades. Apparently Denzel used his ability, "Judgment", to fuck with Fraudrin-Dreyfus.

Judgment apparently causes the souls of the people that Fraudrin killed before to haunt him, and it's cool that the curse seal moves to a different part of his body even if he tears chunks off his skin. Granted, Fraudrin is enough of a badass to just kill the little ghosts and eat them. Gray Road tells Fraudrin to just abandon Dreyfus's body, but Fraudrin's apparently the sentimental type and wants to keep the body... or maybe he can't move out of it? Also, Fraudrin points out that Zaratros's ghost hasn't appeared yet, so maybe... Zaratros is alive? Was he never dead at all, or was he revived thanks to Merascylla and somehow achieved a state similar to Elaine? Is he one of the mysterious people fighting in the tournament? Gilfrost seems like the obvious one.

Deathpierce, in addition to having the most awesome name in the entire manga, also has a little invisible fairy called Invisible. Apparently the other Ten Commandments have been absolutely fucking up every other town. Derriere and Monspiet has wiped out the entirety of Northern Britannia, while Zeldoris has wiped out the entirety of Camelot. Which is probably going to be motivation for the otherwise-background-character-Arthur to go back and do some King Arthur shit. Denzel has found out about Gowther being a former member of the Ten Commandments and thinks that Gowther is a double agent, and marks him as a target. Guila is all conflicted and confused, while Veronica's identity is revealed.

Meanwhile, Gowther (paired with Jericho) is intent on taking the fight on to get a heart, all Tin Man style, and his opponents are, well, Night!Escanor and Hawk. His logic? To be able to feel remorse from his new heart. Yeah, Gowther, you crazy psychopath.
