Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 243: And Then he Leaves on a Trip
Not a particularly exciting chapter, if we're being honest. We get Meliodas leaving with Elizabeth and Chandler, essentially vowing to become the Demon Lord, but not before grabbing Hawk and growling at him as if he's the Demon Lord. Man, if hawk is the Demon Lord himself and has been following the main cast all along it'd be an awesome plot twist, if a stupid one... but it's not.
Merlin finds out that Hawk's eyes are... for some reason... a connection between the mortal world and Purgatory. Merlin brushes off the question of how this happened, and tells the team that the Demon Lord has been using Hawk's eyes to keep watch over Meliodas all this while. Merlin then gives us a backstory of her father (!) who went into Purgatory for one minute but was turned old and insane. And that's without taking into account the presence of the Demon Lord himself. So in the end, Ban ends up volunteering to enter Purgatory, and it seems that that's where the next story arc is going to be -- Ban journeying through Purgatory. Certainly there's a great buildup in these past few chapters -- perhaps a bit less subtle than what was required -- on how fucking useless Ban has been in the past few fights and how he's outmatched, so we're returning to having him be awesome. So... yeah. At least we're not fighting Chandler or Merascylla, and we're going to do something new and progress the plot, so yay for that.
