Nanatsu no Taizai 254 Review: Arthur is Relevant!

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 254: Camelot In Despair

NOOOO GALAN!
Well, he's apparently alive as a statue and is doomed to an eternity of having birds shit on his head, but Estarossa just murders him to rip out his commandment. Poor Galan.

Anyway, after that bit of diversion at the beginning of the chapter, the rest of this chapter just deals with Arthur Pendragon, a character who I've been vocal about how he's honestly just this designated hero that's somewhat shoehorned in as this chosen one that's supposedly on the same level as our main characters, but never managed to be much beyond a generic goodie-two-shoes with generic motivations and not much personality. It's enough to root for, but compared to a vast majority of Taizai's cast it's honestly quite lacking. And here we see him charge through the invaded Camelot in search of some mystical sword, Excalibur or its equivalent here, to help him fight against the demons. And it's... it's okay. Mostly I'm just surprised when Cath the Cat ended up apparently eating and eviscerating Estarossa's sidekick Peronia off-screen...

But thankfully the manga doesn't try to massage Arthur too much in this chapter. He's clearly outclassed and is batted around easily by Zeldoris and Cusack, at least until he gets to the sword... and, again, I can't say I'm particularly invested in Arthur's story. His relationship with Meliodas and his righteous anger at Meliodas's perceived betrayal is the first I've actually felt any sort of emotion towards Arthur beyond bland indifference, though, so there's a first. Maybe Arthur will be likable in this upcoming arc. Most likely he's just going to get his ass beaten down. Oh well. Not much to say about this chapter, really.
