My Hero Academia 195 Review: Voice Changing

My Hero Academia, Chapter 195: Clash! Class A versus Class B

A bit of a simpler setup chapter that basically sets up the Class A versus Class B battle, as well as noting just how Shinsou is going to be implemented into all this. Everyone basically reacts to Shinsou being back and we get a very brief recap of Shinsou's powers. Shinsou also gives a brief motive rant, basically telling everyone that he really is serious about being a hero, and he is going to treat everyone present as his rivals. We get a fun bit of reactions from everyone, including Cero, who notes that "he's acting like Early-roki".

There's a bit of a rundown on the rules which I won't repeat here. We get to see more of the Class B characters, a lot of whom I just straight-up don't recognize, and presumably this arc is going to highlight a bit more. Most interestingly among the ones not spotlighted in this chapter are Mushroom Girl from group 2 and a dude who seems to have... a manga page as a face? There is also Hiryu Rin, a  kid dressed in the style of a jiang shi. There's also a cool looking weird monster-guy with fangs from group 4. Everyone else just sort of feels mundane or are characters we already know.

Shinsou, meanwhile, gets inserted into group 1 of Class A, which means he's definitely going to win in this early match based on manga laws since this is the first fight and one that doesn't really feature a lot of characters we care about. Also consistent with manga laws, Shinsou ends up being plaed with Monoma's team for Class B, meaning he's going to face off against Deku, Uraraka, Mineta and Ashido.

We get to see the beginning of the fight between Tsuyu's team and Ibara's team, with Tsuyu's costume having some limited camouflage abilities, Shinsou noting that both groups are going to target the heavy hitters (Ibara and Kaminari respectively). We get to see one of the 'new' Class B students, Jurota Shishida, with the quirk of becoming a monstrous beast, which isn't the most original superpower ever. He also gets super-high and crazy when doing so. We also get to see Kosei, a character I legitimately forgot about, but he can apparently create walls and prisons out of air.

And then Shinsou ends up talking with Kosei's voice, and apparently the cool mouthpiece he has allows him to mimic other people's voice, meaning that his powerful quirk's ridiculously dumb limitations (the enemy must answer him before the mind-control sets in) is definitely offset. Definitely a fun little opening salvo to this fun little arc of having Classes A and B fight!
