Nanatsu no Taizai 276 Review: Derriere Exists!

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 276: A Sorrowful Blow

A bit of a simpler chapter, which is why I was a bit late in reviewing it. It's basically another establishment of just how crazy Estarossa/Mael is, and how he's just so consumed with hatred towards what's been done to him -- which, mind you, is extremely shitty for all parties involved by both Gowthers. But he's just crazy and he's fighting King, Gowther, Tamriel and Sariel all at once, even through this chapter, ranting about how he's going to deliver despair, how his duty is to wipe out all the demons, and especially the one that's fucked his mind.

This chapter focuses a bit more on Derriere and she basically shows off a huge chunk of character development, apologizing to Elizabeth for not making better use of the second chance at life she's given her, and that she kinda misses Monspiet after his death. Again, really wished that we had spent more time with these two instead of just learning what happened to them.

And then after a speech about how great Elizabeth is for still trying to save Mael, Derriere gives a plan to Gowther and the other combatants. Basically, King, the Archangels and Derriere will hold Mael in place with huge attacks, while Gowther tries to steal Mael's commandments from him... but one of the archangels (Tamriel? The three-headed one, anyway) ends up relenting in his attack. I think he can't bear to hurt Mael or something? I don't really have a good grasp on Tamriel and Sariel as characters to be honest. This gives Mael the opportunity to shake off Gowther's attack, and then stab Derriere with a Spirit Sword esque technique, killing her off.

And... and I really wished Derriere actually had a lot more screentime between Monspiet's death and this chapter, because the last three or four chapters basically just completely ignored her entirely. It's not a bad exit for her, but not the best either, since all she basically is give a speech, fight a little, and then get stabbed through the heart. It's an okay chapter, but not one I find super-exciting.
