Boku no Hero Academia 164 Review: Child Appeal

Boku no Hero Academia, Chapter 164: Precocious Brat

Pretty cool chapter of Boku no Hero Academia. We start off relatively tame, just introducing us to the whole beginning of the supplementary test, and showing us the 'real' Camie, who's kind of an airhead (who speaks in internet slang lmao peace peace) who apparently lost her past few months of memory (how nice of the Villain Alliance to not actually, y'know, murder her and just drug her for four days). Endeavour acting as the sort of crazy over-achiever parent shouting that his child MUST BEAT ALL THE OTHER KIDS is amazingly hilarious, and so does everyone else gushing over skinny creepy All Might instead of Endeavour.

And then Gang Orca, one of my favourite adult heroes, returns! Gang Orca's really cool, man, and he's just screaming like a crazy drill captain. Really love the shape and detail of his eyes, too... and we get this hilarious montage of Gang Orca tossing Bakugou, Todoroki and Inasa. Gang Orca gives this long speech about how they lack 'heart' and all that jazz, and opens the trial....

Which, hilarious and unexpectedly, is a swarm of kids. And they have to deal with the kids. Bakugou's shouting instantly upsets a bunch of kids, there's this 'hmph I'm so cool adults are dumb' kid, Todoroki gets known as the five-peepee-man (ha!) while Inasa is still very much obsessed with his glowering at Endeavour.

Camie just shoves a kid into her boobs. Camie is amazing.

Then a girl pinches her ass and calls her a hussy and a tramp.

We then get this absolutely hilarious panel of Present Mic shouting randomly because his soul demands BGM AND LIVE COMMENTARY. I just love Present Mic. All the while, Bakugou and the others have to deal with a room full of problem children... while Endeavour finally asks All Might just what he is lacking to be the symbol of peace. It's a gloriously hilarious chapter that still progresses the plot somewhat, re-introduces the real Camie to us and unexpectedly opens a way to an Endeavour/All Might conversation. Great chapter, for sure.
