Nanatsu no Taizai 280 Review: Josuke Higashikata

Nanatsu no Taizia, Chapter 280

Bit of a "things happen" chapter, and part of me is sort of feeling a bit of a DBZ-style exhaustion reading through this Mael fight. I guess it can't be helped, since it's a main villain battle in a shonen manga, and those always get dragged on for months and months with chapters that are just "the bad guy does a big thing" and "the good guy does a big thing", which all work far better when read in a single sitting and not spread out into bite-sized chunks over months.

Anyway, last chapter Oslo joins the casualty list and considering how we haven't seen the poor doggy in years, I can't say it touched me that much beyond a brief second of "whoa what the hell" when he teleported in.

This chapter basically shows off Diane's sacred treasure's special power -- absorbing any magical energy and redirecting it to the ground, but it also, y'know, breaks the ground. It's honestly done in such a "eh, this is annoying and situational" handwave that I genuinely felt underwhelmed by it. Meanwhile, we have a dramatic scene of everyone falling down, and then King unleashes his full wings and gets a pompadour?

It's a neat sequence of events, but not a particularly engaging chapter.
