Nanatsu no Taizai Chapter 114: Hesitant Heroes
We start off with a couple of extra pages talking about the popularity poll, and I'm frankly quite surprised that Hawk doesn't make it anywhere in the top ten, and Hawk himself is pretty miffled and pissed off at the rankings, as we go from Elizabeth, Helbram, Elaine, Diana, Oslo (WTF), Meliodas, Hendricksen, Gowther, Ban and King. I'm frankly surprised that Meliodas and Elizabeth didn't rank higher, but I personally enjoy King, Gowther and especially Ban moreso than the supposed main characters, so yeah.Anyway the chapter starts off with Threader and the King recovering from the attack. It then continues with Gowther reversing the damage he's done to Guilla and Zeal, and while they stay the fuck away from Gowther, Gowther apologizes. Meliodas whacks him in the head and Guilla goes all blushy and thanks Gowther for his help and helping her remember fond memories of her father. Gowther's response? 'She dumped me.'
Also in his apology, Gowther apologizes for 'staining' Guilla. Which could be just word choice, but both Diane and Elizabeth blush in reaction to 'stain' specifically, so yeah, Gowther just acknowledged that they totally bumped uglies. Even though I'm not sure Gowther even has one.
Threader then shows up dramatically, and he's apparently gone smitten for Merlin and will do whatever she asks, right after Meliodas points out that Threader only listens to the king. Did Merlin put a spell on him, or is he just fickle-minded like that?
Anyway, Merlin does 'Absolute Cancel' on Gowther, and he... shrinks. Merlin talks about how Gowther has been returned to his original form, but the magic that made Gowther into what he used to be is so strong that Merlin's Absolute Cancel is going to only work temporarily... and Gowther is revealed not to be a robot, or a Frankenstein's Monster, or anything like that... he's a doll. He's, like, fucking Pinocchio or Ultron or some shit. It's a nice little twist and revelation, and everyone is as surprised as I am, apparently.
Also we're not sure who made Gowther, because Merlin just said 'a great magician' cast a spell on Gowther which may or may not be someone related to Merlin.
Hawk is apparently back to normal, and Meliodas is all like 'Gowther is an important comrade' and being happy and stuff, and I do like how Gowther is basically a more benign form of Ulquiorra from Bleach with all the 'I want to understand human emotions' and stuff. For a moment, though, Diane's eyes glazes over and she kind of mumbles 'the seven?' to herself. Which may or may not be an indication of Gowther actually managing to mess with Diane's mind? I dunno.
The rest of the chapter jumps a bit. Meliodas recruits Threader as a guest member of the Seven Sins and he's like 'cool bro' and I'm like 'that's cool' because I like Threader. Elizabeth also wants to follow, but Meliodas just heartlessly brushes her off. Elizabeth runs away crying and both Hawk and Diane beats Meliodas up. Threader and Elizabeth talk for a while, and Threader tells Elizabeth something along the lines of 'women swoon at men's words, but men swoon at women's actions'. Is Threader telling Elizabeth to... do the deed? That kind of came out dirty to me, especially with Threader's "ufu" followed with a heart.
Merlin then summons her crystal ball, which seems to be called 'Aldan', but panics, and tells Meliodas to head to Camelot. She kind of teleports the entire Boar's Hat, including Hawk-mama, straight to Camelot. We get a bit more of King Arthur trying to organize the counter-attack, but the Seven Sins, riding on the giant Hawk-mama, appears in the air next to the big stone golem monster thing, which we see more clearly now. It's more shadowy, it's got runes on its knuckles and these hollow, white eyes. It's cool.
What the hell is that, though? One of the demons? Or something completely different? Is it connected to the Ten Commandments? A giant or something like the vampires or whatever? Whatever the case, I am absolutely pumped for more Nanatsu no Taizai especially since things seems to be picking up action-wise.
