Toriko 311 Review: Grabbing Monkey Balls

Toriko, Chapter 311: The Appearing Monster

Toriko's still pretty good, continuing on the wrestling match against Bambina. Sani manages to deliver his attack, but as Zebra touches Bambina, he realizes those weird web-like things around Bambina is some kind of clothing or an outer layer of skin that is suppressing Bambina's powers, and we get a pretty awesomely-drawn page spread of Zebra looking tiny next to a horrifying representation of Bambina's true strength. Zebra then orders every one to attack. Toriko uses the Infinite Kugi Punch, Zebra uses an 'Enbu Beat Punch', Coco shoots machine-gun poison straight down Bambina's throat... it all looks pretty cool, especially with how Bambina's mouth is basically smoking after Coco's attack. We get a bit of a flashback Kaka explaining their strategy and how they cannot hope to defeat Bambina even with Enbu and all they need to do is to play/entertain him enough to Pair will be ripe.

It's so fucking obvious to make a 'the more you stimulate, the harder and better it gets' joke, so I'll just point it out and move on.

Sani and Zebra do a double lariat (unlike A and B from Naruto, they can't take Bambina's head off, though) and together with Coco pin him down in a wrestling move. We get some more talking about how potent Pair is, how it's stimulating Toriko's cells and whatnot, but Toriko just goes off and grabs Bambina's balls -- which means sometime in the future they will rip the poor monkey's balls off. And that is horrifying to contemplate. There is a gigantic explosion and I'm not really sure what happens, but Bambina is stripped... from his horrifying-but-awesome initial look into this... goofy, dead-eyed thing that is really nothing like the mental image Zebra cooked up. Apparently it's bad, since all the monkeys run away, and Kaka seems to want to use 'that thing'.

Overall it's just a nice little progression chapter, and it's one where I don't have much to say and just enjoy it while reading. Even if I'm still grossed the fuck out by the whole monkey balls thing.
