Boku no Hero Academia 102 Review: Other Schools

My Hero Academia, Chapter 102: Hovering Thoughts

A lot of this chapter is spent recapping what went down in the last chapter, with Midoriya talking about how he uses his legs and how he recruited Hatsume's help in all this, and All Might realizing that he's nowhere the invincible indestructible muscle man he was before. We get to see that the other Class A students are having new costumes (Kaminari and Kirishima look absolutely dope) and are thinking of new super special moves and whatnot. There's a bit of a rivalry as Blood and Aizawa kind of butt heads a bit, while the Class B weirdo, just goes 'mwahahaha you class A scrubs mwahahaha' while secretly relieved that Class A will be taking the hero license in a separate location. As Kaminari points out, the dude has a mental condition.

And like four or five pages of the chapter is just honestly focusing on Uraraka being 'kya kya kya I'm not in love' which is cute, but is nothing I can really talk about. We all know Uraraka and Midoriya are, like, the 'official' couple of the manga.

The last few pages have Class A arrive at the testing grounds, Takoba National Stadium, upon which they are greeted with this weirdo Inasa which is described by Ojiro as "someone added Iida and Kirishima together". He's super polite, literally smashing his head to the ground in apology, while being a boisterous dude that goes around shouting PURASUUU URUTORAAAAA. Inara is a member of Shiketsu High, which is U.A.'s rival school. We see a couple of his classmates, a generic anime cool guy and a generic anime clueless-but-pretty girl and apparently Chewbacca enrolls in Shiketsu High too.

Apparently Inara was accepted to U.A. with top scores -- higher than Todoroki, resident class numero uno -- but declined to accept it. Despite him fanboying over U.A. in his little wacky rant. It's our new group of quirky adversaries with possibly a deeper history, so I'm interested in finding out about them if nothing else. A lot of this chapter ultimately is just setup, though.
