Toriko 382 Review: Fusion Dance

Toriko, Chapter 382: Acacia on the Move

We start off with Midora apparently about to eat Acacia's full course that's brought by Brunch, though we don't get to see what insane power-up this results in. Neo goes ahead and sucks in basically all of the Mother Snake's disgestive fluids, basically causing her to unwrap and just fall apart... but the Mother Snake jumps into Moon's mouth, who quickly sucks her in... and then Moon leaps up into the air, ready to be kaboomed to hell by Derous's weird dragon laser cannons. Why Moon and Derous felt the need for Derous to attack Moon with laser beams, I don't know why -- you'd think that would foil the whole intent of crushing Neo inside the black hole within Moon, but hey.

Meanwhile, Acacia eats Center and becomes super-glossy.

Neo rips his way out of Mother Snake, who's like all dehydrated and shit, before using a hyper beam spam and literally blowing Moon up like a balloon. Yeah, that's King #4 and #5 absolutely dead. Derous and Neo are about to throw down, but Acacia re-summons Neo. Pair starts monologuing about how when Neo eats Acacia he'll be truly reborn and whatnot, but Acacia tells Pair to shut the fuck up, apparently knocking him off-screen, before he eats Neo.

He transforms into this... weird... crossbreed between Unbound Hoopa from Pokemon and Frieza from Dragon Ball, which is definitely not what I expected Neo and Acacia's combined form to be. No idea what happens to Pair, but Joie apparently beat Starjun (what an anticlimactic end to that fight) and the two of them are ready to go to space or gourmet utopia or whatever.

Yay, I guess? We all know Toriko's third demon will show up, team up with Midora and kill everyone. It's telegraphed from miles and miles away, but it's still kinda-sorta cool to see Neo getting even more powerful even if we know it's just pointless 'let's make this boring villain stronger'.

  1. I'm fairly certain the point of blowing up Moon was to take away Neo's only exit from the Soul World. Effectively trapping him in.

    1. That's a good point, though honestly with all the insanity that Neo can do, even blowing up Moon (and Neo himself kinda blew Moon up, albeit from the inside) successfully, I think Neo can still pull off some crazy 'appetite is so great he destroys the barrier between the soul world and the living' thing. I mean, it's Neo, and other spirits in Blue Grill already do that anyway where the barrier is weak. Neo will probably just eat everything in his way between where Moon ate him, eat King Cthulhu of the Underworld (is he ever going to be relevant?) and wherever the barrier is thin.
