Nanatsu no Taizai 155 Review: Rock Mazes and Shit

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 155: Death Trap Labyrinth

It's also a slower chapter this week. What is it with every single manga chapter I review this week being a slow one? We cut away from all the awesome action with the Pleiades of the Azure Sky and Fraudrin-Dreyfus and Gray Road to go back to Diane and Matrona. And... well, Diane's just being kinda annoying with her memory loss and her constantly making 'eeeeh?'-style reactions. It's one thing when she does it in a chapter establishing her new identity, but so much of this chapter is spent on just talking about the labyrinth and Diane's inexperience and memory loss that there really isn't much content in it.

The idea of the death trap labyrinth is fun enough, and Dolor/Balor's earthbending skills are apparently waaaaay above the insanity we've seen Matrona and Diane did. Dolor's giant earth-maze can instantly regenerate and you can't jump to run on top and cheat the system. And we thought Matrona's Chibaku Tensei thing she did on Galan was awesome! Apparently Matrona gets distracted by visions of her children -- Dolor's power? Tentacle Girl's power? Either way, she and Diane gets separated. Diane meets Hawk, and tries to eat him in an overly long gag. Elizabeth shows up.

The chapter goes on for way too long, and honestly it's rare that Nanatsu no Taizai feels like the weaker chapter compared to Fairy Tail. This might be the first.
