Boku no Hero Academia 155 Review: Dynamic Entry

My Hero Academia, Chapter 155: Saviours, Rescues & A Hero's Whereabouts

Overall, definitely a good chapter. Not going to be too wordy this time around, I think -- it's just basically showing the desperation and just how utterly brainwashed Eri is, as the poor girl is so abused and tied to Overhaul's abuse that she actually walks right back to Overhaul like a fool. Between the monologue that Chronostasis gives to Aizawa, and the extremely conflicted scene Eri has with Mirio, where Mirio's struggling to show the image of a confident hero while he himself is kind of fucked... there's some genuinely good material here. Eri's basically held in check by Overhaul blaming everyone else being hurt on her.

We also get the actual fight between Overhaul and Midoriya, which, while not particularly as exciting as the previous two or three chapters, is definitely well-drawn. Overhaul also notes just how inexperienced Midoriya is, and how easy he is to 'read' compared to Nighteye and Mirio.

And, god, the image of Overhaul's hand-mouth is just creepy as all hell. Overhaul lets out this long, fucked-up tirade about how he's going to get Eri to cooperate with him no matter what, and the only thing that's going to be different is how many people gets hurt in the process. Midoriya goes on a heroic speech mode, Nighteye apparently sees a future of failure... and then team Ryugu, a big goddamn dragon, crashes in on everyone.

A bit deus-ex-machina-y, I'm sure, and I'm still not a huge fan of the whole fate thing, but eh, it's decently written, at least.
