One Piece 815 Review: Straw Hats Are Dumb

One Piece, Chapter 815: Take Me With You

A bit of a slower chapter, and still kinda fun to read, but still nowhere as impactful as the previous handful of chapters. Pekoms gives us some information, about how the Vinsmoke Family stands atop the head of the huge organization Germa Sixty-Six otherwise known as Warmonger, and how in the grand scheme of things it isn't even a ploy to get Luffy's Straw Hat Pirates under Big Mom -- Big Mom doesn't even care about them. Luffy does his usual dumb-Luffy routine and goes all 'you all become my underlings!' and 'I'll go there myself!' much to the rage of Pekoms. Pekoms also gives us a vivid description of how if Sanji refuses to come to Mama's tea party invitation he will receive a present containing the head of someone he's dealt with before -- someone from East Blue, a Straw Hat Pirate, someone from the Kambakka Kingdom... the fact that Pekoms knows that much even is kind of settling in and of itself, really.

Luffy 'decides' he will sneak into the tea party with Pekoms, and then Nekomamushi starts a party because he's Garfield or some shit. Trafalgar Law shows up, introducing his Heart Pirates, 20 people strong (though only four are named I believe). Law learns about the whole Sanji thing, and notes how they have their hands full with Kaidou.

Meanwhile, Brook, Franky and Robin stand guard in case the samurai return, not wanting the samurai and mink to butt heads... but they fell asleep. Even Robin. Stupidity is contagious, it seems. So naturally Kanjurou and Kin'emon shows up with the etetetete monkey who immediately runs off to warn the other Mink.

Conflict? Possibly. Do I care about the samurai? Not at all -- focus on something more interesting. Kaidou. Jack. Big Mom. Sanji. Fuck off, samurai.
