Boku no Hero Academia 110 Review: Orca Gang

My Hero Academia, Chapter 110: Rescue Maneuvers Continued

Apparently Inasa's superhero name is Gale. That's actually cool! And he has enough control to manipulate each gust of wind for both the rescuees and the rubble, but he also gets points deducted off for being so insanely crude. Inasa just shouting EVERY LINE OF DIALOGUE really makes me want to hear how he sounds in the anime, to be honest. There's a bit of the meat processor dude, Shishikura, talking to another dude about how the first years lack experience... to which whoever the person he's talking about analyzes that Shishikura is being preachy about Stain's points of view. So, yeah, Stain might be aiming his worldviews towards the criminal society, but the hero community has been influenced too, albeit slightly more subtly. If not in "All Might must die and all incompetent heroes must be killed", simply being more generally questioning of the hero community's state and the quality of the young heroes. It's definitely subtle because I for one didn't catch the parallelisms between Stain and Shishikura's ramblings at all.

There's a bit where Uraraka, Momo and a bunch of others save a dude trapped under unstable rubble, which is just another thing that happens... but Momo launching a blob of flesh from her shoulder to stop Uraraka from charging in (instead of using her arm like any normal person) is absolutely hilarious. There's a bit of an analysis from the examiner about the importance of teamwork in a group of rescuers, but, likewise, deducts points off them for being so wasteful with their resources, Momo's leadership notwithstanding. Some members of Class 1A decide to split up to cover more ground and not overcrowd each other. Aoyama, meanwhile, delights in using his sparkling brilliant navel laser to light up places. Oh Aoyama.

Bakugou, meanwhile, tells a bunch of rescuees to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Which, um, is kind of actually surprisingly lucky for the angry dude because those guys are minimally injured and are supposed to simply just get directions... but Bakugou definitely wasn't in a triaging kind of mood and is just being, well, Bakugou.

Of course, it's getting a bit boring, so huge explosion, and Gang Orca, who's the number 10 hero and one of Endeavour's flunkies back during the All For One battle, show up as part of the test. He does look scary and the manga even lampshades it by calling him "Number 3 in the Looks-Most-Like-A-Villain Ranking". That cracked me up. So yeah. Gang Orca looks cool, this scary killer-whale-man in a business suit and body armour. So we'll be seeing some action, which is probably what someone like Bakugou or Inasa needs to get points.
