Boku no Hero Academia 112 Review: Naruto Sasuke Element Combination Powers

Boku no Hero Academia, Chapter 112: What do you think you're doing?

We get a longer flashback of Inasa as a kid, being as insanely hot-headed as he is in the present day, how he's super-obsessed with superheroes, and we get a flashback of the exam day where he notes that Todoroki is Endeavour's son and tries his best to make nice with him, noting as he goes through the exam that Todoroki has the same eyes as his father, but how he'll try to make friends anyway... and Todoroki blows him off and acts like a huge dick. Again, it's a bit of a bad reason to quit the literal best academy around, and while it's a little bit more nuanced than last chapter, it's still paints Inasa as being an idiot. A strong-headed, hammy and entertaining one, but an idiot nonetheless. Still, he's fifteen. And we all make decisions we regret in that age. So.

Present-day Todoroki is shaken by Midoriya's shout and does a long internal monologue on how in hating Endeavour and aspiring to beat his father, he had became even more similar to his father.

And monologuing in a superhero setting? Not a good idea, because Gang Orca just sonic-screams (or sonic-shockwaves, rather) his way and takes out Inasa and Todoroki. And can I just say that Gang Orca's claws and the effects they do to make his sonic shockwaves are absolutely and utterly awesome? Why do all the teachers get all the cool looking artwork? Ectoplasm, Gang Orca...

Gang Orca's army of mooks go off to 'attack' the rescuers, but apparently Shindou has a natural resistance to shockwaves due to being an earthquake generating man, and, well, creates an earthquake. And he goes off and becomes a bit more aggressive and crazy... eh, it's a bit of a character quirk, I guess.

This ends with Todoroki wanting to make amends, and using his powers with the hope that Inasa is thinking of the same thing, and of course he is, and they create a gigantic Naruto-Sasuke style fire-wind combo. Not a giant flaming wind shuriken, but a gigantic fire-wind tornado. Which... okay, it's definitely nowhere as good as Todoroki's spotlight both in the sports competition against Midoriya or when he's paired up with Momo during the mid-terms or whatever. Really could've been put through the editing department a little, because of how quick and random the conclusion seemingly comes, but it's not entirely bad.
