My Hero Academia 114 Review: Mystique

My Hero Academia, Chapter 114: After the Results

A good chunk of this chapter is just devoted to telling us the results of the examination, and basically everyone except for Inasa and Todoroki passed. Oh, and Bakugou failed too, and Bakugou's reactions are absolutely hilarious. It's a bit wordier and more repetitive than your standard Boku no Hero Academia fare, with so much repetitions of the concept of 'yeah, you failed, but you still did good and we still watched you to the end'. Basically, Bakugou, Todoroki and Inasa have another chance in a training camp or whatever. And Todoroki and Inasa apologize to each other. Some character development or whatever. That's cool.

Oh, and Mineta is such a glorious asshole throughout all this, mocking Todoroki's fall in the heirarchy and all that, and telling him to take it easy and not take shortcuts like the training camp. Not really much happened there, some nice happy bonding moments between the 1A people...

And then the final revelation! Hair Kid from Shiketsu shrugs Midoriya's question off and identifies Aniem Mystique Girl as one 'Camie'... who immediately sheds her disguise and reveals herself to be... Toga! Psychotic fanged schoolgirl Toga! Can I just say how much I like Toga's batshit-crazy design? She's obtained Midoriya's blood, and her quirk is metamorphosis: the ability to take on anyone's appearance after ingesting their blood.

Dun dunnn DUNNNN!

Holy shit, that was a great plot twist. The exam arc itself is already fun even if it petered out in this chapter since there's a significant lack of Gang Orca, and the Todoroki/Inasa story played out quite predictably... but this plot twist is awesome. I like this chapter.
