Nanatsu no Taizai 199 Review: Jobbing

Nanatsu no Taizai, Chapter 199: Those Without Light

A relatively simple chapter, really. We've got King and Diane going full-out against their Commandment counterpart. King uses the true spirit forms of Chastiefol, but is severely outmatched by Gloxinia's very, very cool giant wasp Guardian and armoured bear-claw form. King gets absolutely fucked up partially because he tanked Gloxinia's hits, and partly because he's wingless and thus using true-spirit-form attacks exhausts his stamina.

Dolor? Dolor doesn't even give a shit. Diane delivers a very awesome barrage of hammer strikes and later earth fists, but Dolor just dances his way, not even bothering to counterattack more than a couple of palm strikes, and even those Diane had to rely on Heavy Metal to even stay standing, before eventually getting taken down in one shot.

The two are in pretty sorry state, and Gloxinia makes it clear that killing the two of them -- a fairy without wings, and a giant not in tune with the earth -- is trivial. But Gloxinia and Dolor... wants the Diane and King to succeed them, and thus will train those two. For... reasons unknown. It's a plot development that, honestly, isn't something unexpected. It just earns a shrug from me, but considering how many fights Diane and King both have lost since... well, since Hendricksen, I guess, the two of them are easily the weakest of the Sins, absolutely out of the ballpark of Meliodas, Escanor and Merlin, and both Gowther and Ban are pretty much more powerful and more durable than those two as well. So yeah.
